The National Condos In Old City- My Experience and Two Cents
Back around 1998 when I lived in Old City- the night sky erupted one evening in a yellow and orange hue. A row of buildings had caught fire. What arose from the ashes is what we now know as the condos at the National. Many addresses here- 133 N. Bread St, 112 n. 2nd St. and 130 N. 2nd St. Hosting a wide array of sizes and styled condos, the National in Old City was built by K. Hovnanian and a great many of the units have underground parking spots. The buildings do not have a doorman, but are secure in the fact that the National is one of three gated condo communities in Center City Philadelphia. The condominium complex houses not only three high rise buildings, but also some stacked townhouses.
The townhouse-styled units are groovy in the fact that they are wide, spacious and resell at a fairly good pace. I appreciate the oversized windows and the gracious closet space. Know that the National does not have a pool, or on-site gym (there is a gym located within the condominim complex, but it is not a part of the association). These condos sit within the "sweet spot" of Old City and I find my buyers here LOVE the fact that the neighborhood has so much to offer in terms of walkability and just kinda' tooling around- ability. Many of the upper floor units in the high rise condos at the National provide killer city or river views. Know that many of the units have half-walls and don't provide 100% privacy for the guest bedrooms- but I don't think that plays into resale value. Know that a majority of the units are modeled in a "soft loft" style- meaning some exposed brick, oversized windows and good ceiling height. If you are looking for new, with a side of parking in a great Old City location, then we really are going to have to take a look at the condos at the National.
