The Winne Condos, converted in 2008 from a historic rope-making warehouse, offer a unique blend of history and modern living in the heart of Old City. This isn't just a sales pitch; I've personally sold 28 of the 31 units here (some more than once!), and even lived next door, so I know these condos inside and out. Comprising four contiguous buildings at 38-44 N. Front St., the Winne offers mostly one and two-bedroom condos, with a few studios sprinkled in. Each unit is truly unique, boasting original details like exposed brick, sliding fire doors, and exposed beams. No two units are exactly alike, with varying layouts and views impacting value – especially those overlooking the Delaware River. While the building faced some initial challenges, those are long gone, and the Winne is now fully occupied and thriving. Residents enjoy a range of amenities, including a beautifully landscaped courtyard (arguably the most unique in Center City!), secure parking for select units, a fire suppression sprinkler system, and some basement storage. Personally, I'm partial to the E units with their three exposures and charming balconies overlooking the courtyard. But all units offer something special, from the original random-width pine floors and new windows to individual HVAC systems and hot water tanks. Situated on a quiet corner of Front and Cuthbert Streets, the Winne provides easy access to the Market-Frankford Line and numerous bus routes, making it a commuter's dream. And with Old City's vibrant "SOHO" vibe, residents are steps away from an array of restaurants, galleries, and cultural attractions. If you're looking for a truly unique condo in a dynamic neighborhood, the Winne is worth exploring.
