The Castings at 136 N Bread St.

130-36 N. Bread St. Philadelphia, PA 19106

Located in the Old City section of Philly, this fashionable condominium conversion is home to many studio, one, and two bedroom units. A nice mix of layouts, views, and style of units in this building seem to add up a popular choice for those looking to buy Old City condos. All units are separately metered, with washer/dryers and central air. Adjacent to the National condos on Bread Street, between Arch and Race Streets, these loft like apartments are close to all that Old City has to offer! A nice piece of Philadelphia real estate in an old converted warehouse building in the 19106 section of downtown Philly!

A total of 60 condos were developed by American Classic Development (Florence Klien) on this little cobblestone street in Old City back in the 1980's by Historic Landmarks for Living. Completed and sold off at the same time the developer also was selling the Wireworks and Bridgeview Place. Easy to call these 3 condo buildings sister buildings as they all have roughly the same price structure, finishes and layouts. The lobby of the Castings is truly warehouse-like and should not be missed. An interior courtyard is kinda' groovy and provides a quiet oasis for city living. Most buyers appreciate the central location and the fact that the National added some significant inventory across the street- and with the addition of the National condos- the cobblestone street was refinished and new street lighting added. All very nice additions to the setting for the condos at the Castings. Most of the condos at 130-136 N. Bread are studio or one bedroom condos- though there are a handful of two bedroom units at this address. No parking, no gym, and no pool all help to keep condo fees in check. All units have hardwood flooring in living room and their own washer/dryers. No gas service to the condos means they are all electric (doesn't hurt value a bit). Many of the Castings condos have high ceilings, exposed brick and oversized windows. A nice value in a nicely managed and clean condo building in the HEART of Old City. Truly- smack dab in the middle of the neighborhood on a quiet cobblestone street- Nice locale. I have personally sold many units over the years at the Castings- Perhaps a half dozen.

What a condo owner at The Castings says about the building:
Carol says: "My building still looks like the factory it was for about 150 years. In fact, people trying to find it often pass it by. When they enter the huge, high atrium with its factory artifacts now on the walls, they're always awed by its uniqueness. It isn't a cookie-cutter apartment building, and it doesn't have a bunch of frills that you have to pay for. The best part about the building is its location on a quiet old side street. I'm in the dead center of Old City District, literally minutes away from anything I need, and yet I'm in a mellow, peaceful neighborhood. I've lived in many kinds of places, and I didn't think this combination was possible. My good luck!"
